Corner Adjustment on the XK3190-DS1M Indicator

Corner Adjustment on the XK3190-DS1M Indicator

Once a weighbridge is installed, the job that consumes the most time is correcting the corners so the reading does not change with where the load sits. On older systems that work was done at the junction box with a screwdriver. With a digital indicator it is done in the menu — and this page walks through entering the parameters by hand on an XK3190-DS1 or DS1M.

Why digital changes this job

  • Corner parameters are adjusted at the indicator, not at the junction box — the installation gets shorter.
  • Faults appear on the indicator display, so later maintenance is a matter of reading a code rather than hunting.

Position the cells in pairs

Fit the cells so that (#1, #2), (#3, #4), (#5, #6) and (#7, #8) form axis pairs. Laying the bridge out this way means corner correction can be done by axis rather than cell by cell.

Wait for the Stable lamp

Throughout the whole procedure, press [Input] only when the Stable lamp is lit. Confirming a value while the reading is still settling is the most common way to end up with parameters that look right and behave wrongly.

Entering corner parameters by hand

1  Press [Parameter], then enter 6.

2  Press [Input] and enter the default password 888888.

3  Press [Input] and enter the cell position you want to change — for example 14.

4  Press [Input]. Position 14 appears in hexadecimal as E. Enter the new parameter — changing it by only one or two units at a time.

5  Press [Input] again and the next position appears — 15, shown in hexadecimal as F.

6  Press [Weight] to leave the menu.

Change small, measure often

Move the parameter one or two units, then re-test that corner before touching it again. Large jumps overshoot, and chasing an overshoot across eight positions takes far longer than creeping up on it.

KALA Technical Notes

Most DS1M indicators also carry an automatic corner routine, and on a bridge with small errors it is quicker than working by hand. Manual entry earns its place when one corner is stubborn or when the automatic routine keeps failing to converge. Tell us which of the two you are seeing and we will suggest the shorter path.
