In-Motion Checkweighers for Production Line Control
In-motion checkweighers verify product weight while items move through a production line, helping improve quality control and reduce underweight or overweight products.
Designed for moving products and conveyor operation.
Separate incorrect weight products from accepted goods.
Support data checking and process monitoring.
One or more Load Cells are mounted under the conveyor idler to measure the force exerted by material passing over it. Combined with a belt speed sensor, the system calculates real-time mass flow rate (tons/hour) and cumulative total weight.
| Criteria | In-Motion Checkweigher | Tank / Truck Scale |
|---|---|---|
| Operation | Continuous weighing while material moves | Batch or per-vehicle weighing |
| Best for | Continuous, high-volume production lines | Trade transactions by batch/vehicle |
| Installation | More complex, requires integration with existing conveyor | Simpler, independent of the line |
- • Belt tension and flatness — a loose or misaligned belt causes large errors
- • Stable belt speed — motor speed fluctuations directly affect flow calculations
- • Regular calibration using a test weight or material test method, typically every 3-6 months
Since it’s mounted directly on an active production line, an in-motion checkweigher needs more frequent inspection than a static tank scale: clean the idler and Load Cell after each shift, check belt tension regularly, and monitor deviation against a reference weight to catch drift early.
Send your conveyor width, belt speed, material flow rate, and accuracy target. KALA’s technical team will help recommend a suitable checkweigher solution.
