In-Motion Checkweighers for Production Line Control

In-motion checkweighers verify product weight while items move through a production line, helping improve quality control and reduce underweight or overweight products.

Dynamic weighing
Designed for moving products and conveyor operation.
Quality control
Separate incorrect weight products from accepted goods.
Production records
Support data checking and process monitoring.
1. How it works

One or more Load Cells are mounted under the conveyor idler to measure the force exerted by material passing over it. Combined with a belt speed sensor, the system calculates real-time mass flow rate (tons/hour) and cumulative total weight.

2. When to choose it over a tank or truck scale
CriteriaIn-Motion CheckweigherTank / Truck Scale
OperationContinuous weighing while material movesBatch or per-vehicle weighing
Best forContinuous, high-volume production linesTrade transactions by batch/vehicle
InstallationMore complex, requires integration with existing conveyorSimpler, independent of the line
3. Factors affecting accuracy
  • • Belt tension and flatness — a loose or misaligned belt causes large errors
  • • Stable belt speed — motor speed fluctuations directly affect flow calculations
  • • Regular calibration using a test weight or material test method, typically every 3-6 months
4. Maintenance

Since it’s mounted directly on an active production line, an in-motion checkweigher needs more frequent inspection than a static tank scale: clean the idler and Load Cell after each shift, check belt tension regularly, and monitor deviation against a reference weight to catch drift early.
